AcadeMediaâs Higher Vocational Education business has been awarded a good number of training programs for the autumn of 2020 and the business grows at market pace. The number of granted applications was announced by the Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education.
AcadeMediaâs Higher Vocational Education business has been awarded 4,285 educational places, corresponding to approximately 14.5 percent (14.6) of the total number of places granted.
- We are happy to see that the expansion of higher vocational training in Sweden continues. This award means that AcadeMedia's Higher Vocational Education business will continue to grow at market pace, says Christer Hammar, Head of AcadeMedia Adult Education.
This yearâs round of awards shows the largest increase in the number of places in the areas of Technology and manufacturing, Computing/IT as well as Health and healthcare. Finance, administration and sales is still the area with the largest number of educational places. It is the labour market requirements that guide The Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education in their decisions on which educations to start.
The Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education also increases the proportion of distance education. They now make up about a quarter of all Higher Vocational Education programs. AcadeMedia's Adult Education Segment has many yearsâ experience providing distance education and is pleased with the development.
- With more distance education, the possibility to combine work and studies becomes easier. It enables better mobility in the labour market. When a worker takes the next step in his career, opportunities open for someone else to then take his place, says Christer Hammar.
The awarded programs vary in length, from one to three years. The financial benefits will only be realized after students have been recruited to the programs.
Facts: The 2019 applications
The Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education has granted fewer training programs compared to last year, but with this yearâs allocation the authority estimates that the number of students will increase to approximately 40,000 in 2020 and that the target of 44,000 students will be reach already in 2021.
Of the total 1,097 applications received, the authority has granted 416. In terms of the number of new places, there are 31,000 places in total and 11,600 starting in 2020.
